Rob Thorsen

Rob Thorsen is a performer, educator, recording artist, clinician and composer in Southern California. He recently released his album "Bass is the Space - Solos and Duos" featuring Joshua White, Steph Johnson, Gilbert Castellanos and Marshall Hawkins. Rob was also featured in wife and vocalist/guitarist, Steph Johnson's"So In Love" album featuring the songs of Cole Porter, Joni Mitchell, and others. 

When Rob is not performing, he can be found teaching at Gilbert Castellanos' Young Lions Jazz Conservatory, The La Jolla Athenaeum's “The World Of Jazz,” and teaching privately. In 2010 Thorsen created “Jazz an American Art Form,” a jazz educational program that's engaged over 80,000 students led by the Rob Thorsen Quartet. He is also heavily involved with and performs with the Voices of Our City Choir, a soul-jazz choir created by Steph Johnson for people experiencing homelessness in San Diego. ​Together they appeared on America's Got Talent and even received the golden buzzer from Terry Cruz.
